What’s in store for today:

  • How to stop wasting your money on supplements
  • The easiest way to lower blood pressure naturally
  • The best arm builder exercise to gain without pain

Today’s issue is brought to you by Unstoppable After 40 Coaching Program. We help entrepreneurs, executives, and business owners to get fit in their 40s & 50s while growing their businesses and enjoying their lifestyles. (In less than 2 hours per week) .

We just started a 21-Day Summer Shred Challenge in my coaching program.

Why?

Because although everyone in the program has lost 15+ lbs. already, it’s important to keep motivation high.

And that’s what I wanna talk about: Motivation.

Part of what’s missing in the conversation about fat loss and health is that motivating yourself is a meta-skill.

You know to eat well.

You know how to exercise.

You know you should sleep early. But why won’t you do it?

You simply haven’t found how to consistently motivate yourself to take the right actions consistently.

This is also important for clients who start out motivated. But then lost 10-20 lbs. and felt comfortable afterward.

If you resonate, then what you’re missing is a practice to keep you motivated.

From my 25+ years of experience, a lack of motivation happens because of three reasons: • Stress • Boredom • Lack of results Chronic stress short-circuits your brain and puts you into survival mode. Boredom makes you seek excitement in food and drink. Lack of results makes you feel like you’re working hard but not seeing the ROI for your efforts.

If your motivation disappeared, ask yourself which one of these was to blame. Then develop a plan to get it back. Easier said than done, I know. But the time passes anyway…so make it happen!

Here is your Unstoppable After 40 Friday Digest:

1. Are you wasting your money on supplements?

Big Pharma gets a lot of criticism. And for good reason. But did you know that “Big Supplement” isn’t any better? In fact, sometimes they’re worse.

A case in point is this 2023 study that tested 57 products.

What did they find?

Twenty-three of 57 products didn’t have a detectable amount of the labeled ingredient. Of the products that contained detectable amounts of the listed ingredient, the actual quantity ranged from 0.02% to 334% of what was on the label.

This is why I often say do NOT buy cheap supplements.

And buy from a trusted supplement company like Thorne or Designs for Health.

They’re more expensive. But you’re actually getting what you pay for.

2. The easiest way to lower blood pressure naturally.

What’s the number one killer of adults worldwide?

Heart disease.

And while some folks are still debating about cholesterol, no one debates the importance of healthy blood pressure.

Luckily, if you have higher blood pressure than normal, a 2023 meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials found that 30 minutes of aerobic exercise three times per week reduced systolic blood pressure by 1.78 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure by 1.23 mmHg on average.

While that may seem small, it’s significant.

Doing 30-minutes of aerobic exercise 5 times per week was found to have an even bigger impact on blood pressure.

The lesson?

You must incorporate cardiovascular exercise for optimal heart health—especially if you have high blood pressure.

3. My favorite joint friendly arm builder exercise for men over 40.

One of my favorite arm exercises is the single-arm cable curl.

Here’s why you need to add it to your routine:

Joint-Friendly: Long hours at the desk can be tough on your body. This exercise comes with a smooth movement that keeps your elbows happy, making it perfect if you’re easing back into fitness.

Customizable Load: Whether you’re just starting out or getting back to your prime, adjust the weight from light (10-15 reps) to heavy (6-12 reps) based on your comfort and goals.

Build at Your Pace: Start with just 2 sets and gradually build up to 6 as you gain strength without overloading your joints.

Legendary Life Coaching Client Highlight:

Tim (57 years old) slashed 20 pounds of fat and turned back the clock!

Ever felt like age and injuries held you back?

Meet Tim, a 57-year-old senior engineer who used to be very active until he had kids and a busy career which led him to a whopping 232lbs at 40% body fat.

On top of that, Tim was battling a bad ankle and aching joints, and every morning was a struggle with back pain.

After 4 months, Tim:

  • Lost 20lbs of fat and and said goodbye to that gut.
  • Went from doing intermittent fasting with little results to following a flexible approach that fit his lifestyle and food preferences
  • Went from zero to hero, exercising 3x per week despite prior injuries.
  • Recovered his mobility and decreased joint pain through rehab training tailored to his aches, injuries, and age.

The cherry on top? Rocking confidence at his son’s graduation!
