I came across a great quote recently:

“The saddest aspect of life right now is science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.”

It’s from the late science-fiction writer Isaac Asimov’s interview with the legendary Bill Moyer in 1988.

But I thought how much more relevant this quote is today—especially for health—as the pace of technology increases.

Back when I was a low-carb zealot, I would say the same things that many of them say today:

“Carbs cause diabetes.”

“Cholesterol doesn’t cause heart disease.”

“Calories don’t matter for fat loss, only carbs.”

“Eat more fat to become a fat-burning machine.’

“Carbs raise insulin, and insulin is a fat-storing hormone.”

I could go on and on… But you get the point.

And I REALLY believed I was right.

It was only when I got fat on a low-carb diet that I began to question my beliefs.

Fast forward to now…

I don’t follow any “gurus”. I read scientific research and work with mentors who help me understand the research better. I constantly challenge what I know so I only use the best strategies and information to help my clients.

Don’t get me wrong.

I also use my 25+ years of experience too because I have issues with those folks who only use research to help their clients.

But at the end of the day, I have many body transformations under my belt that I’ve created with systems that have been time-tested and repeated with dozens of clients.

This is all to say: Be wary of who you listen to.

Many people think they know but they’ve just memorized other people’s opinions…and have become really good at repeating them.

Question who you learn from—including me!
