Today’s issue is brought to you by Unstoppable After 40 Coaching Program. We help entrepreneurs, executives, and business owners to get fit in their 40s & 50s while growing their businesses and enjoying their lifestyle (in less than 2 hours per week).

I just realized I spent nearly two decades struggling in the fitness industry before I finally figured it out.

What’s the lesson?

Legend has it Kobe was watching a film of an opposing player who went 0-9 and started passing up shots.

Mamba looked over and said:

“I’d rather go 0-30 than 0-9, because if you go 0-9, that means you stopped shooting and lost confidence.”

I don’t even watch basketball, but I love this quote.

Because I never stopped shooting.

I got into fitness in 1999 after tragedy turned my world upside down. Building Fitness business gave me purpose and drive again.

But after 10 years, I started struggling.

I didn’t understand business. I had setback after setback. I could’ve quit.

Instead, in 2018, I sold everything I owned and moved to Thailand with no backup plan—just some savings and the belief I’d figure it out.

People told me not to do it.

“It’s too risky.”

“Don’t leave what you’ve built.”

“Start a bootcamp instead.”

But I knew what I wanted.

Now, I’m living my dream. I’ve traveled the world. I built a coaching system that gets better results than 99% of the industry.

It hasn’t been easy. It’s still a challenge. But I never stopped shooting.

Because I knew if others figured it out, I could too.

And at the end of your life, the last thing you want is to be haunted by the question “What if?”

Because you have less time than you think.

Take your shot.

Here is your Unstoppable After 40 Friday Digest:

1- What you got wrong about Heart Disease Risk Factors

I had a medical doctor and health influencer Gil Carvalho back on the show. If you don’t know Gil, he hosts the popular Nutrition Made Simple Youtube channel with over 290k subscribers.

In this episode, Gil comes back on to discuss myths about heart disease, cholesterol, and the influence of genes on disease risk. This is an area where so many people are confused. And believing the wrong information can literally kill you.

So if you want the know what the best evidence says about how to prevent heart disease then you’ll wanna listen to the episode.

2- The truth about alcohol and your brain

You know alcohol is bad for your body.

But did you know it also rewires your brain?

That’s right…drinking alcohol makes it harder to break bad habits.

How?

2024 study from Texas A&M found that chronic alcohol use disrupts key brain circuits responsible for learning and decision-making.

It impairs a process called cognitive flexibility. This is the exact skill you need to build to deal with the challenges of staying in shape long-term.

Researchers discovered that alcohol alters cholinergic interneurons (CINs)—neurons that regulate dopamine and help you shift behaviors. When these neurons misfire, you struggle to unlearn bad habits and replace them with better ones.

This is why many high achievers feel stuck when trying to change their health—it’s not just about discipline; it’s about optimizing your brain.

The good news?

You’re in control of how much you drink.

So if you’re looking to sustainable changes and you’re having trouble sticking with them, then giving up (or cutting down) alcohol is the first step.

3- My go-to exercise for shoulder injuries

If you’ve got tight shoulders, poor thoracic mobility, or a history of shoulder injuries, the Kettlebell Armbar is a game-changer.

✅ Improves shoulder stability—strengthens rotator cuff & stabilizers

✅ Enhances mobility—opens up the thoracic spine & improves posture

✅ Reduces injury risk—great for athletes & anyone with past shoulder issues

Programming Recommendations:

🔹 For mobility & recovery: 2-3 sets of 20-30 second holds per side

🔹 For stability & strength: 3-4 sets of 30-45 second holds per side with moderate weight

🔹 For warm-ups: 1-2 sets of 15-20 seconds per side before pressing workouts

A must-have for shoulder health, mobility, and bulletproofing your joints.

Give it a try!

Unstoppable After 40 Client Highlight: Trevor K.

Meet Trevor, a 47-year-old commercial real estate broker from Portland who desperately needed to stop feeling overwhelmed and stressed at the end of the day.

Plus, he spent hours of his precious time lifting weights three times per week, doing high-intensity training, and riding his Peloton bike with little to no results.

In 6 months, Trevor:

  • Lost 25lbs waving goodbye to that stubborn gut
  • Created and maintained a leaner, stronger, and more energetic body in less than 2 hours per week
  • Boosted his testosterone naturally and feels more confident
  • Still enjoy fine dining and have an active social life
  • Since he lowered his stress levels, he feels more present with his family and his wife

Trevor is more than just ‘fit’; he’s living his best life and creating a legacy that he is proud of.

Quote of the week:

“In theory, consistency is about being disciplined, determined, and unwavering.

In practice, consistency is about being adaptable. Don’t have much time? Scale it down. Don’t have much energy? Do the easy version. Find different ways to show up depending on the circumstances. Let your habits change shape to meet the demands of the day.

Adaptability is the way of consistency.”
