My mother died in a car accident in 1991.

My little brother was murdered in 1995.

My sister committed suicide in 2012.

My father died of poor health in 2020.

I was broke and struggled for most of my life.

Now I’m living the life of my dreams.

I had every reason to give up and let tragedy define me.

But with each heartbreak I turned pain into purpose.

Let me explain…

When my mother died in a car accident I felt a void that no 14-year-old should ever feel.

But it taught me the fragility of life and the importance of every moment.

Losing my younger brother to a senseless act of violence made me question humanity.

I realized the preciousness of time and how every moment we have is a gift.

I committed to making my life have a sense of meaning…

…to help people transform.

My sister’s pain and her decision to end her life was a reminder of the silent battles we all face.

It ignited my passion for psychological health, understanding that true well-being is not just physical but mental and emotional too.

3 years ago when my father passed away it solidified my belief that health is the purest form of wealth.

I was broke and struggled often feeling like life was one endless uphill battle.

But my commitment to health and well-being, and my dedication to learning and evolving, became my salvation.

Now, I live a life I once could only dream of.

And I dedicate every moment to helping others realize their potential.

Especially those that juggle intense responsibilities, immense pressure, and personal challenges.

I know the grind, the sleepless nights, the relentless stress that can sometimes feel like it’s closing in.

But I’m here to tell you – if I can rise above pain and craft a life of meaning and purpose, so can you.

Your health, both mental and physical, is your greatest asset.

As someone who’s walked through the darkest valleys, I’m committed to guiding you using my expertise, experiences, and belief in human resilience.

To all the entrepreneurs, executives, and high-performance individuals:

Your journey may be tough, filled with obstacles and challenges, but remember – it’s the pressure that turns coal into diamonds.

Stay strong, stay focused, and always prioritize your health.

Don’t give up. Your best days are yet to come!

Here is your Unstoppable After 40 Friday Digest:

1. The superfood that you should be eating now.

If you’re looking to slip more nutrition into your diet without even trying, you might want to befriend flaxseed.

A 2019 article reviewed the research on flaxseed and found that it can lower cholesterol, and blood pressure. It’s also been found to reduce tumor growth in women with breast cancer.

Although doses from 10-50 grams have been studied, I aim for 30g/day. I put it in yogurt, smoothies, and soups to make it easy to consume. 30g is quite a bit so having 10g per meal is what I prefer to do versus trying to get it all in at once.

And make sure you get labs before and after using ground flaxseed to test the results!

2. Can you be unhealthy from eating healthy foods?

Recently on X (formerly known as Twitter), I compared avocado toast to pizza.

If you can’t see the tweet then click here for the LinkedIn post.

The calories (depending on how they’re prepared) are close.

And people went nuts.

I can relate. Because in the past, I believed that if a food was healthy or “clean” that I couldn’t get fat from eating it.

But now I know that too many calories from any source will cause me to gain fat if I overeat.

Even avocados!

The lesson: Make sure you’re paying attention to the calories in all the foods you eat if fat loss is your goal.

My rockstar client Dan hit a plateau and needed to cut back on his salmon portions to get leaner.

This is what so many people are missing.

You don’t have to count calories but calories always count!

3. No time to exercise? Here’s how to maximize gym results in less time.

“I don’t have time” is the most common excuse I hear to explain why someone doesn’t exercise.

But here’s what I tell them…

The difference between losing muscle and gaining muscle is 1 set.

So, here’s a routine I give to my clients who have no time:

1. Bodyweight squats 1 set

2. Push-ups 1 set

Simple.

How many reps should you do? Do as many reps as you can until you reach close to failure.

Try it right now!

Legendary Life Coaching Client Highlight: Tim O.

Tim (57 years old) slashed 20 pounds of fat and turned back the clock!

Ever felt like age and injuries held you back?

Meet Tim, a 57-year-old senior engineer who used to be very active until he had kids and a busy career which led him to a whopping 232lbs at 40% body fat.

On top of that, Tim was battling a bad ankle, aching joints, and every morning was a struggle with back pain.

After 4 months, Tim:

  • Lost 20lbs of fat and and said goodbye to that gut.
  • Went from doing intermittent fasting with little results to following a flexible approach that fit his lifestyle and food preferences
  • Went from zero to hero, exercising 3x per week despite prior injuries.
  • Recovered his mobility and decreased joint pain through a rehab training tailored for his aches, injuries, and age.
  • The cherry on top? Rocking confidence at his son’s graduation!

Supplement Recommendation: My Go-To Supplement For Stress & Sleep

If you exercise regularly, are under a lot of stress or or having sleepless nights, I recommend taking an oral magnesium as one of your go-to supplements for sleep and stress.

The truth is with age, your resilience to stress decreases, and sleep patterns may get disturbed.

My Pick

Natural Stacks Magtech. This is hands-down my favorite oral magnesium supplement. In fact, it’s the ONLY oral supplement that I haven’t had any GI upset from taking. And I’ve experimented with many brands and forms of magnesium for the past 5 years and it’s still my fav.
